CIDA Announces Professional Standards 2022

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Board of Directors recently adopted revisions to quality standards for interior design higher education programs. CIDA Professional Standards 2022 are published and effective for programs undergoing accreditation reviews after July 1, 2022.

Professional Standards 2022 update the current Professional Standards 2020 in response to feedback from user groups and to integrate content from ongoing environmental scanning and forecasting. Revisions were posted for community review and comment in October 2021. “With the 2022 updates, CIDA Professional Standards more robustly reflect the interior design profession’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. These incremental revisions also honor CIDA’s process of regularly incorporating content that reflects contemporary practice and places future graduates at an advantage for success in a rapidly evolving world,” states Holly Mattson, Hon. FASID, Hon. IDC, CIDA’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent, non-profit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree-granting interior design programs. There are 175 CIDA-accredited programs in the U.S., Canada, Qatar, and the UAE.
