CIDA Announces Professional Standards 2024

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Board of Directors recently adopted revisions to quality standards for interior design higher education programs. CIDA Professional Standards 2024 are published and effective for programs undergoing accreditation reviews after July 1, 2024.

Professional Standards 2024 update the current Professional Standards 2022, integrating content from ongoing environmental scanning and forecasting as well as observations from field use. Community comment on proposed standards revisions was collected from September-October 2023 and diligently considered as revisions were being finalized.

CIDA Professional Standards 2024 continue to elevate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility as core responsibilities of the professional interior designer and acknowledge technological advancements impacting education and practice. Additionally, standards revisions streamline some areas of content in response to user feedback. "We are truly grateful to the many expert stakeholders who contributed to standards development and who provided feedback on the draft. Through your participation, CIDA is able to conscientiously evolve to reflect emerging professional themes and content,” states Holly Mattson, Hon. FASID, Hon. IDC, CIDA’s Chief Executive Officer.
