Council for Interior Design Accreditation Board elects officers, appoints new directors

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Board of Directors elected Dr. Pamela K. Evans, FIDEC, IIDA as the 2015 Board Chair. Dr. Evans is the Director of Interior Design at Kent State University and serves as the accredited program representative on the CIDA Board. Jan Johnson, FIIDA, LEED AP, Vice President of Design and Workplace Resources at Allsteel, was elected Secretary-Treasurer. Jan serves as the industry representative on the CIDA Board.

Two new Director appointments were made to the nine-member Board. Dr. Lisa Waxman, FIDEC, ASID was appointed as liaison to the Interior Designer Educators Council (IDEC). Dr. Waxman is Professor and Chair of the Interior Design Department of Florida State University. She has served in many capacities on the IDEC Board, including regional chair, educational services director, secretary/treasurer, and the 2011-2012 president. Caroline Hughes, IDC was also appointed as liaison to the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) on the CIDA Board. Caroline is a Principal with figure3, located in Toronto, Canada, and is a regular participant in industry panel discussions focused on exploring and anticipating the future needs of people in the workplace. Most recently, she participated in CIDA’s November 2014 Future Vision session.

Additionally, Mark Strauss, Hon. IIDA, President of Interior Design Media was re-appointed to serve a second three-year term. Mark serves as the public representative on the CIDA Board. Director terms began January 1, 2015. For more information about the Board of Directors click here.

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent, non-profit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree-granting interior design programs. There are 184 CIDA-accredited programs in the U.S., Canada, and Qatar.
