Joseph Pettipas, IDC, ASID, IIDA has been honored with the Keith Hooks Volunteer Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).
Joseph Pettipas was involved with CIDA leadership in a variety of capacities for over 13 years. Most recently, Pettipas completed two terms on the CIDA Board of Directors and was Board Chair from 2005-2007. Pettipas also previously served several years on the CIDA Accreditation Commission, the group that makes accreditation decisions, and was a CIDA site visitor conducting on-site evaluations of interior design programs seeking accreditation. Joseph served as the liaison to the Standards Committee during his term on the Accreditation Commission, contributing to the strengthening of sustainability and communication expectations in accreditation standards.
CIDA established the Keith Hooks Volunteer Excellence Award as a legacy to former Director Keith Hooks whose 20+ years of volunteer leadership immeasurably impacted thousands of students in CIDA-accredited programs. “Joseph Pettipas’ extensive service to CIDA and quality interior design education is substantial and worthy of this highest honor,” states Robert Wright, CIDA Board Chair. “He has been a highly visible and engaged leader, elevating the profession’s awareness of CIDA’s role and value through his involvement. The Board is very pleased to recognize his achievements with this award.”
Over 130 interior design educators and practitioners currently volunteer for CIDA. Only one Keith Hooks Volunteer Excellence Award is presented annually.
